Israel Houghton Placed On 'Indefinite Leave' By Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church Amid Adrienne Bailon Scandal — Former Leader Is Offered Counseling!

The gospel singer and religious leader has stepped into major scandal.

In February 2016, Israel announced in a statement that he and his wife were divorcing, and that he had been unfaithful.

Less than a month later, he was spotted getting frisky on the beach with The Real host Adrienne Bailon. Houghton made it clear in a recent Facebook post that Bailon had nothing to do with the breakup, however.

Now, Radar Online reveals that Israel has been placed on "indefinite leave" from of the leadership of Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church!

"In February of this year, Lakewood Church released Israel Houghton from his responsibilities as a worship leader and placed him on indefinite leave," the church confirmed in a statement to Radar.

"Since that time he has not been featured in any Lakewood Church related activities."

"Lakewood Church is not at liberty to discuss publicly any details regarding Israel’s personal situation, but stands ready to provide Israel with spiritual counseling and guidance should he choose to seek it."

A rep for Houghton told Star, "Israel has been on staff at Lakewood for 15 years since 2001 and actually remains officially on staff. He was never suspended, nor was he put on an indefinite leave but is on a personal sabbatical of his choosing."
