Orlando Bloom is reflecting on loneliness and darkness following his breakup from fiancée Katy Perry.
On Wednesday, July 2, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 48, reposted an Instagram carousel originally shared by @sapienkind, which featured 18 different quotes attributed to the late psychiatrist Carl Jung.
“Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate that seem important to oneself,” one quote read, which the Lord of the Rings star also posted on his Instagram Story.
Many other quotes discussed “darkness,” with one reading, “Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.”

Bloom posted two other sentiments on his Story from the carousel, which included, “Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul, just be another human soul.” The other read, “We are not what happened to us, we are what we choose to become.”
This isn’t the first time Bloom has given his followers food for thought. On Monday, June 30, he reposted a quote from @taomeditations credited to Gautama Buddha about new beginnings and one from the Japanese Buddhist leader Daisaku Ikeda about taking a step forward in life.
The Three Musketeers actor’s cryptic messages come after a source told Us Weekly on Wednesday, June 25, that he and the pop star, 40, “split but are amicable.”
The source told the outlet that the breakup was “a long time coming” as things “have been tense for months.”

An insider spoke to People on Tuesday, July 1, and expressed the same sentiment, claiming Perry and Bloom had “been living on an island of stress” and that “things have been rocky” before they called off their relationship.
“Katy and Orlando have been suffering through the same problems that have plagued them for years,” the source alleged. “[They had] too much going on in their lives, which makes it hard to find time for each other and iron out disagreements. When they don’t communicate properly, their relationship dips to a low level.”
Bloom and Perry’s on-again, off-again romance began in 2016. Bloom proposed on Valentine’s Day in 2019, and the pair then welcomed their daughter Daisy Dove in August 2020.
