New ‘Predators’ Documentary Explores the Disturbing History Behind ‘To Catch a Predator’
From 2004 to 2007, To Catch a Predator was must-see TV. Pervs targeting underage girls and boys online were lured to meet their prey as huge audiences tuned in.
Host Chris Hansen would emerge from a side room to catch them in the act, and after an awkward interview, police would move in. Filmmaker David Osit interviews many of the former child decoys, arresting officers and Hansen in an exploration of why the most titillating things about the show were also the most troubling.
