Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr., was caught in the 6.9-magnitude earthquake in the Philippines on Tuesday, September 30, according to his older daughter, Samantha.
“My father is stuck on the 19th floor of a building in the Philippines,” Samantha, 60, posted on X shortly after the disaster hit, per the Daily Mail.
“He can’t walk and he is trapped,” she added, before blaming her half-sister, 44, for putting their father, 81, “in this position.”
Meghan reportedly cut off all communication with her father after he spoke to the press and staged paparazzi photos ahead of her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.

The retired Hollywood lighting director, who previously lived in Mexico, has reportedly been staying with his son, Thomas Jr., 58, on the Philippine island of Cebu.
“As of today he is OK , and making plans to get out of that building,” Samantha posted in an update on Wednesday, October 1, in which she expressed her “deep gratitude” for everyone who reached out with their concerns.
“They seem to be safe for now, and hopefully there will be no serious aftershocks,” she added. “Provisions are being made so that he won’t be trapped in a similar situation again.”
