Meghan Markle has returned to acting — and she’s doing it with ease.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, officially stepped back onto a Hollywood set this week, marking her first acting role in eight years. A source tells People that Meghan appeared in high spirits.
“She seemed very relaxed and happy. She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth,” the source told the outlet.
Meghan will star in the upcoming film Close Personal Friends by Amazon MGM Studios, The Sun first reported on Wednesday, November 5. A source, who spotted the duchess on the set in Pasadena, California, told the outlet it was a “massive moment” for Prince Harry’s wife.
“She has been swamped with offers but this one felt right. It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set,” the source added to The Sun.
The film, directed by Jason Orley, reportedly features a stacked cast that includes Jack Quaid, Henry Golding, Lily Collins and Brie Larson. Close Personal Friends follows a couple who meet a celebrity couple while vacationing in Santa Barbara, California. Meghan is said to be playing herself.

As Star readers know, Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, relocated to Santa Barbara in 2020 after stepping back from their royal duties in the United Kingdom. They continue to live in California with their two children, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4.
Before joining the royal family, Meghan was best known for her role as Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits. She gave up acting in 2017 after becoming engaged to Harry and has since appeared in the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan and With Love, Meghan.
