Meghan Markle is pushing back after reports claimed Netflix’s top executive is avoiding direct contact with her.
According to a Variety report published on Tuesday, March 17, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, 61, is allegedly “fed up” with Meghan, 44, and Prince Harry, 41.
Two sources claimed to the outlet that Sarandos said he would not take a phone call with the Duchess unless a lawyer was present, although Variety acknowledged that the sources were unclear if he was serious or joking.
However, both sides quickly shut down the claims.

A Netflix spokesperson told Variety that it was “absolutely inaccurate” that Sarandos made the comment, while Meghan’s attorney insisted the two communicate regularly.
“Meghan texts and speaks with Mr. Sarandos regularly,” her lawyer told the outlet, adding that she has even visited his home without legal representation.
Other insiders painted a different picture of the relationship, telling Variety that Sarandos and his wife, Nicole Avant, maintain a friendly relationship with the couple, who live nearby in Montecito, California.
The conflicting reports come at a time of change in Meghan and Harry’s partnership with Netflix. Their docuseries and other projects were part of a massive $100 million deal signed in 2020, per Page Six, though newer agreements are reportedly smaller.

As Star has reported, Netflix also recently ended its partnership with Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, following the cancellation of her series, With Love, Meghan.
Despite the headlines, sources told Variety the working relationship remains intact.
