“OLYMPICS, HERE WE COME!!” the skiier, 41, wrote on Instagram on Tuesday, December 23.
“I have officially qualified for the Olympics in Cortina!!!” Vonn continued of the upcoming games in Italy, tagging Team USA. “I am honored to be able to represent my country one more time, in my 5th and final Olympics! When I made the decision to return to ski racing, I always had one eye on Cortina because it’s a place that is very, very special to me.”
Vonn — who won the gold medal in downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics — prefaced to her fans that she couldn’t “guarantee any outcomes” at the upcoming games, which will be held in February.

However, the athlete said, “I can guarantee that I will give my absolute best every time l kick out of the starting gate. No matter how these games end up, I feel like I’ve already won. I am grateful for how the season has gone so far, but I am just getting started. See you in Cortina!!”
In a follow-up joint post with the Stifel U.S. Ski Team, the team wrote, “She is SO back.”
Speaking to The Athletic on Monday about her overall performance in recent days, the three-time Olympic medalist said, “It was very important to me that I qualified based on my performance and results this season and not based on what was done in the past.”
“My skiing had to earn this spot,” she added, “and I’m proud to have done that.”

Vonn previously announced her retirement from skiing in 2019, citing her injuries.
In November 2024, after having a successful knee replacement surgery, she revealed that she would return to the sport.
“Obviously, I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t hope to be racing,” Vonn told the New York Times at the time. “I have aspirations. I love to go fast. How fast can I go? I don’t know.”
