King Charles’ Former Butler Recalls ‘No Animosity’ Among the Royals, Questions Prince Harry’s Claims

Grant Harrold, a butler who once served King Charles III at Highgrove House, is reflecting on his time working with the royal family.

In an interview with The Telegraph published Monday, August 18, Harrold — who is releasing a memoir next month — said Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince Harry and Prince William all shared a strong bond when he worked there from 2004 to 2011.

“The four of them, I promise you, got on so well. And that’s why I don’t understand what Harry’s said, I really don’t understand,” Harrold admitted. “Because I saw them. I saw them having dinners together, I saw them having drinks together, I saw them going to parties together.”

Harrold — who worked for the royals while Harry was in his 20s — noted that there was “no animosity” between Charles, 76, and his sons and that the father of two “used to do things to make them laugh and giggle.”

According to The Telegraph, the Duke of Sussex, 40, painted a different picture of his family dynamics in his 2023 memoir Spare, as he wrote that he asked his dad not to marry Camilla, 78, before the pair eventually wed in 2005.

As for the bond between Harry and William, 43, Harrold described them as “so close.”

“The banter was great,” he shared. “They used to go around being silly with each other and winding each other up, jumping out at their dad from corners and making him laugh. It was just like a family.”

Harrold also said Harry used to spend quality time with his brother’s then-girlfriend, Kate Middleton.

“They involved him. He used to go out with Kate. William would be away and Kate and Harry would be off doing stuff together,” he recounted. “They’d go shopping together, they’d go to pubs together.”
