Kim Kardashian is dealing with a health issue that “really hits home.”
During the Thursday, October 29, episode of The Kardashians, the 46-year-old reality star revealed that she needs surgery to address “irregularities” in her esophagus following her esophagitis diagnosis.
“So I’ve seen a couple of doctors, and it’s been heavy on my mind lately,” Kim said in the confessional, according toPeople. “I haven’t really told too many people about this, just because I think it’s something that really hits home for me and I just don’t really wanna go there.”
Kim’s father, Robert Kardashian, died of esophageal cancer in 2003 at the age of 59.
“With my dad having passed away from esophagus cancer, hopefully I can just take medication and this will go away,” Kim continued.

However, the preview for the next episode showed Kim entering a hospital, per the outlet.
“The doctor says my esophagus has these irregularities, and I have to have them cut out,” Kim revealed. “It’s the same thing my dad had.”
Earlier this season, Kim revealed that she was diagnosed with esophagitis and discussed her prognosis.
“In 15 years, you’ll develop… I don’t even wanna say it, but something horrible,” Kim said during the October 8 preview of The Kardashians season 8, according to People.
Esophagitis is a condition that causes a “swelling and irritation, called inflammation, of the tissues that line the esophagus,” per the Mayo Clinic.
Although esophagitis and esophageal cancer are distinct conditions, chronic inflammation of the esophagus can sometimes lead to changes that increase the risk of cancer.
This wasn’t the first time Kim had faced a health scare. In a November 2025 episode of The Kardashians, she revealed that doctors had discovered a brain aneurysm that had “been there for years,” according to Us Weekly.
