Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Have Awkward Moment Live on the Air Following ‘Divorce’ Joke

During the Tuesday, October 21 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos launched into a playful debate that quickly turned pointed.

At one point during the show, Ripa, 55, mentioned couples parting ways in the airport and reuniting at the gate. “I think we could do well with this: an airport divorce,” she told her husband in a clip, shared by Daily Mail. “[Because] you and I have different traveling philosophies, different traveling styles.”

The pair began to discuss their differences when it involved arriving at the airport, with Consuelos, 51, preferring to get to the airport ahead of time.

However, what started as a harmless discussion turned tense when Ripa claimed Consuelos gets irritated when fans recognize him.

“Don’t put that out there,” he said. “I’m very nice to people. That’s not cool.”

When Ripa quickly responded by saying that she meant he gets irritated by her, he lobbed back: “No. I don’t get irritated with you. I’m irritated with you right now for trying to throw me under the bus.”

According to People, the banter escalated when Ripa recalled a recent TSA PreCheck slip up by Consuelos, which ended up with her waiting in the slow line and him miffed.

The morning duo — who have been married for nearly three decades — eventually laughed it off, with Consuelos quipping, “Mom and dad, fighting again!”
