Kelly Clarkson Missing ‘The Voice’ Tapings Following Ex-Husband Brandon Blackstock’s Death: Report

Kelly Clarkson is seemingly taking time to grieve following the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

While production is currently underway for season 29 of The Voice, a source recently told The Sun that the singer-songwriter, 43, is taking a step back.

“Kelly will not be at the tapings scheduled next week for Thursday and Friday,” the source told the outlet in an article published Thursday, August 14. “Production is working on a replacement coach for her now.”

“Kelsea Ballerini and Miley Cyrus have been considered to fill in, but right now, it’s all still a work in progress,” the source added.

Besides the “Piece by Piece” vocalist, the judging panel for season 29 of The Voice: Battle of Champions will see the return of John Legend and Adam Levine. The series is set to air in the spring of 2026.

As Star reported last week, Clarkson’s daytime talk show will be back for the seventh season this fall, with new episodes debuting in September, according to TMZ.

The news came after the three-time Grammy Award winner postponed the August shows of her Las Vegas residency the day before the former talent manager — with whom she shares kids River, 11, and Remington, 9 — passed away.

“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill. At this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” Clarkson wrote in an Instagram Story on August 6. “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”

There has been no word on when Clarkson will be back onstage for the remainder of her Studio Sessions residency.

Blackstock died on Thursday, August 7, following a three-year battle with melanoma. He was 48 years old.
