Keeley Hawes and Freddie Highmore Join Forces in AMC+’s Crime Thriller ‘The Assassin’
Edward (Freddie Highmore) shows up at the house of his estranged mother Julie (Keeley Hawes), who’s living on a Greek island, seeking information about his parentage. But there are no Mamma Mia!–esque musical numbers, as Julie is a retired assassin and a hit has been put out on her.
Mom and son are forced to go on the run but their verbal sparring matches — Edward refers to Julie as the “perimenopausal James Bond” — are just as killer as the executioners on their tails, as is the mix of action and comedy.
