Kate Gosselin Launches TikTok Account Two Years After Addressing Son Collin’s Abuse Allegations

Kate Gosselin has confirmed her return to social media after going radio silent for nearly three months — and two years after she addressed allegations of abuse by one of her children.

The Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum, 50, has not posted on Instagram since May 10, when she celebrated her sextuplets’ – Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel – 21st birthday.

Collin and Hannah, who, at one point, lived with dad Jon Gosselin, were not present for the get-together.

Starting on July 13, a TikTok account claiming to be the TLC star began sharing videos of a black German Shepherd puppy named Meika Jane, however, the account was not verified. On July 28, Kate shared a video of herself to TikTok clarifying that it was her actual account and that she was simply waiting on the social media platform to verify her.

A few days later, the former TV personality posted a video of herself on the same account lounging in a lake as she thanked her fans for hitting the follow button.

“You guys blew me away,” she said. “It’s so cool to see, especially a lot of my old followers from the days of Twitter and so that is really cool to see and say hi to you guys, I’ve missed you.”

“Let me know what you guys want to see, what you’re looking for, what you want to talk about, what you want to [see] other than dogs because I can do that too but the dogs are my favorite,” she continued. “Good to see you all. Great to be back and let’s have some fun.”

Kate’s return to social media comes two years after she took to Instagram to address the allegations of abuse that her estranged son, Collin, made in the docuseries The Dark Side of the 2000s.

“I know my mother was going through a lot of things,” he said at the time. “And, you know, I want to think that she needed someone to take out her anger and frustration on, and that it was just kind of me, you know? I was in the way and I was there. So, she chose me.”

Hannah also alleged that Kate would “separate” him from her and their other siblings throughout the day when they were young.

“Like, he would not get to come and play outside with us. He would eat dinner at different times than us,” she said. “I don’t think effort was made in the home to help him learn what behavior is acceptable, what behavior is not acceptable.”

Collin further claimed that he was sent to live at Fairmont Behavioral Health Institute in Philadelphia as a child after he told teachers at school that he was allegedly being mistreated at home.

“She caught wind of that and had to put me somewhere where I wouldn’t be able to get the secrets out,” he alleged.

Kate released a lengthy statement on July 21, 2023, insisting that Collin had “received multiple psychiatric diagnoses” throughout his life and that he’d been sent to the facility “for the safety of myself, his brothers and sisters and for his own well-being.”
