Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere ‘Clearly Have a Real Connection’ But ‘They’re Not Acting on It’

Cindy Crawford and ex-husband Richard Gere aren’t friends, a source tells Star, but they are back in each other’s orbit now that her daughter, Kaia Gerber, is sharing the screen with his son, Homer Gere, in the new Ryan Murphy series, The Shards.

The former couple divorced in 1995 after four years of marriage, and the supermodel, 60, went on to marry Rande Gerber, dad to Kaia, 24, and son Presley, 27. The Runaway Bride star, 77, shares Homer, 26, with his second wife, former Bond girl Carey Lowell.

“There’s no doubt the casting was designed to get maximum attention, and they are clearly playing into it,” the source says of Kaia and Homer, who were recently spotted at a U.S. Open tennis match with costar Owen Painter in New York City on Tuesday, August 25. “Whenever they’re out and about together, they really play up their closeness.”

Despite their parents’ romance, Homer told E! News that Gerber has “become a really close friend” and while neither one is single, “it’s hard not to think they’d make a great couple in real life,” says Star‘s source.

The supermodel-turned-actress is dating Bill Pullman‘s son Lewis Pullman and she’s “very serious” about him, the source shares. Meanwhile, Homer has been with his girlfriend, whose identity has not been publicly revealed, for a year and a half, per Vogue.

“They want this show to get as many viewers as possible so the name of the game is to get as much buzz as they can, any way they can, which is what they insist they are doing,” says the source. “But a lot of people think that they’re playing with fire a little because they clearly have a real connection, even if they’re not acting on it.”
