Kacey Musgraves is taking some time to heal after suffering a scary injury.
On Friday, June 20, the country singer took to social media to reveal that she’d be postponing her upcoming June 22 performance at the Sing for Science event in Nashville because of a broken rib.
“Sooo, I’m in Mexico with a f—— broken rib,” Musgraves, 36, wrote on her Instagram Story. “Wednesday night it was raining and I was running to grab some towels and had an extremely hard fall on some very slick tile I didn’t see.”
“Thankful I didn’t smack my head but I landed very hard on my back left ribcage and broke rib number six,” she continued.
The Grammy winner shared two X-ray photos of her torso. One of the photos provided an explanation of what happened, and the second one was a close-up shot with the word “pain” written on it, seemingly showing where she was feeling discomfort.

“This s**t is no joke,” wrote Musgraves. “I am in a lot of pain and doing ANYTHING is extremely difficult but I’m managing and being well taken care of.”
The “Follow Your Arrow” singer went on to explain to her fans that she is “extremely bummed” to cancel her Nashville show, but there is “no physical way” she could get on a plane and fly back to Tennessee.
After the announcement, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to show their support for the Grammy winner.
“Sending you all our love for a safe and speedy recovery,” one user wrote.
“OH GOD… I broke a rib a few years ago and you’re right, the pain is no joke,” penned a second.
“Ouch! Broken ribs are a bh! I hope you get all healed up & feeling better quickly,” shared a third.

Musgraves went on to reveal that the rescheduled show will take place on Sept. 18 at the Ryman Auditorium, and that “fans have up to 30 days if they can’t make it to the new date.”
Her next performance is set to take place on July 5 at the Zootown Festival in Missoula, Montana.
The “Merry Go Round” singer’s injury comes just two days after the season 2 premiere of Netflix’s America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders — where Musgraves served as the surprise guest judge during the final audition round.
