Sophie Grégoire revealed her true feelings about her soon-to-be ex-husband Justin Trudeau’s relationship with Katy Perry.
“We’re human beings and stuff affects us — normal. How you react to stuff is your decision,” Grégoire, 50, said during the November 12 episode of the Arlene Is Alone podcast. “So I choose to try to listen to the music instead of the noise.”
Grégoire continued, “I’m very aware that a lot of public stuff out there can be triggers, right? We’re humans. What I do with it is my decision. The woman I want to become through this is my decision.”
The author was referring to Canadian former prime minister Trudeau, 53, and Perry, 41, who have been photographed getting cozy since July 2025.

In 2023, Trudeau and Grégoire, who share Xavier, 18, Ella, 16, and Hadrien, 11, separated after almost two decades of marriage. Perry and ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom, who share daughter Daisy, 4, split over the summer after a 9-year on/off relationship.
On the podcast, Grégoire said she’s coping privately.
“Does it mean I don’t have emotions? That I don’t cry, scream, laugh? No! Especially that I’m a super tender heart, right?” she noted. “But it’s my decision after that, between the emotion and the reaction.”

When host Arlene Dickinson praised Grégoire for her grace — pointing to an October paparazzi photo of Trudeau and Perry embracing on a yacht — Grégoire explained, “You can stay in that reactive mode, but you’ll suffer the consequences.”
Grégoire said that she and Trudeau are doing what’s best for their children.
“We have separate lives, but we have one family life,” she said, adding, “You need a common, conscious decision of, our family is our greatest creation and we’re going to feed it together, no matter if we’re on different life paths.”
