John Mayer Looking to Rekindle Romance With Katy Perry Following Orlando Bloom Split: Source (Exclusive)

Now that Katy Perry is officially single, her ex John Mayer is hoping to rebuild their relationship, a source exclusively tells Star.

“John and Katy are on very good terms these days, so John had no qualms about reaching out to her as soon as he heard the news about her and Orlando [Bloom],” the source says of the exes, who were in an on-again-off-again relationship from 2012 to 2014.

The “Your Body is a Wonderland” hitmaker, 47, and the pop star, 40, had a brief public reunion in November 2024 when they were seated near each other at Sabrina Carpenter‘s concert in L.A.. In a video posted on X, the “Dark Horse” singer could be seen shaking hands with Mayer.

“He’s playing the supportive friend card, but he’s always said she was one of the hottest women he’s dated,” says the source. “If she’s down to date again, he’d be thrilled.”

The source added that while Mayer has “something going on” with actress Kiernan Shipka, he hasn’t acknowledged that they are anything more than friends.

“John does what he wants, and right now,” shares the source, “and what he wants is another shot with Katy.”

In 2017, Mayer gave an interview to The New York Times ahead of the release of his album, The Search for Everything, and revealed the track “Still Feel Like Your Man” is about Perry. In one line of the song, Mayer sings, “Still think I’m never gonna find another you.”

“Who else would I be thinking about?” he told the outlet. “And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So it’s like, give me this, people.”

Perry briefly mentioned her relationship with Mayer in 2022 while serving as a judge on American Idol. After contestant Noah Thompson performed Mayer’s song “Heartbreak Warfare,” she had a hilarious reaction when Thompson assumed she was the judge who had assigned him the song.

“Noah…I feel like maybe you should Wikipedia me,” she joked. “You did great, but I can’t talk anymore. I’m triggered!”

It was later revealed judge Luke Bryan made that song selection.

In June news broke that Perry and Bloom, 48,had ended their relationship after being engaged for six years.

The Grammy Award winner began dating the Pirates of the Caribbean star in 2016. Bloom proposed on Valentine’s Day in 2019, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove, in August 2020.
