January Jones is getting brutally honest about navigating mental and emotional health struggles, and her fans are here for all of it.
The Mad Men alum, 47, shocked followers on Wednesday, Dec. 3, when she posted a nearly three-minute Instagram video describing how perimenopause has pushed her into what she calls a “much darker place as of late.”
“I haven’t been officially diagnosed, but I think I have the perimenopause,” Jones admitted while sitting in the dark, adding that she’s been battling sudden mood swings.
Jones explained that she’s usually “light and fun,” but lately she’s been feeling overwhelmed and impulsive. “I feel a lot of rage,” she confessed.

At one point, the actress praised herself for not giving into that rage.
“Tonight, I did not roll my car going 70 miles per hour into the Tesla that cut me off,” she said. “Because that’s what I wanted to do — but I didn’t. I want to recognize that.”
It’s an uncharacteristic moment of transparency for Jones who is notoriously private about her personal life and has never revealed the identity of her 13-year-old son Xander’s father.

Nonetheless, her fans rushed to the comments to pile on praise.
“Gosh I didn’t think I could love you more after Mad Men but I was wrong,” one wrote.
“That cheered me up!,” shared another fan. “You’re real and I love that about you.”
