James Van Der Beek Snubbed in Oscars In Memoriam
James Van Der Beek was not included in the lengthy Oscars In Memoriam segment on Sunday, March 15.
While the actor, who died following a battle with colorectal cancer on February 11, was best known for his role on Dawson’s Creek, he also appeared in 25 films.
He made his big screen debut in 1995’s Angus, and also appeared in memorable movies including 1999’s Varsity Blues, 2002’s The Rules of Attraction and 2017’s Downsizing.
He also starred in The Gates, which was posthumously released.
The segment, which began with Billy Crystal’s tribute to Rob Reiner, along with stars from Reiners’ films. The “In Memoriam” continued with Rachel McAdams reminiscing about Diane Keaton and ended with Barbra Streisand singing in a rare performance in honor of her The Way We Were costar Robert Redford, went on for 15 minutes, but also failed to mention screen legend Brigitte Bardot, as well as Malcolm Jamal-Warner and Eric Dane.
Van Der Beek was 48.
