Sydney Sweeney may have a big role in the next 007 film.
Last month, Denis Villeneuve — known for directing the Dune franchise — signed on as the James Bond franchise’s latest director, and according to reports, is eyeing the Euphoria star, 27, as the next Bond Girl.
“Sydney is the top name on the casting sheet for Bond. Denis believes she is hugely talented, as well as having an alluring appeal to younger generations, vital in modernising the franchise,” a source told The Sun in an article published Saturday, July 12,. “They’ve hung out together a lot and he has admired her stratospheric rise.”
The Oscar-nominated director and the White Lotus alum are said to be friends, having been photographed chatting at the Toronto Film Festival last September.

The source also noted that Sweeney’s look fits the iconic character type, telling The Sun, “Plus Sydney has the quality of being athletic and able to perform physical scenes, as well as being feminine and following in the legacy of Bond girls.”
Ursula Andress famously played the original Bond girl in 1962’s Dr. No. Since then, many A-list actresses have taken on the role, including Michelle Yeoh, who appeared in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), and Halle Berry, who starred in Die Another Day (2002).
Sweeney has proven her acting range as she has starred across a variety of genres, from romcoms like Anyone but You to thrillers like Echo Valley.
In June, Villeneuve spoke to Vanity Fair about his love for the long-running franchise.

“Some of my earliest moviegoing memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr. No with Sean Connery,” he shared in a statement to the outlet. “I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come.”
In February, it was announced that Amazon MGM Studios had acquired the intellectual property rights of the spy franchise which includes creative control. Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli remain as co-owners.
Amazon’s founder is, of course, none other than billionaire Jeff Bezos, who is seemingly friendly with Sweeney as she attended his wedding to Lauren Sánchez in Venice at the end of June.
For now, there has been no official announcement regarding whether Sweeney will appear in the next Bond movie.
