The viral story of a Florida hospital housekeeper whose co-workers surprised her with a bridal shower over the summer has a new chapter courtesy of Hilton, which sent her and two friends on a holiday trip to New York City.
Back in July, Sheila was moved to tears when her co-workers threw her a surprise bridal shower, and the moment was shared on TikTok by nurse Hannah Heisdorf. The video quickly went viral, amassing more than 4 million views in a single day.
“Our sweet housekeeper, Sheila, is getting married on Friday,” Heisdorf wrote in the post. “She has never been married before and has found the love of her life at age 62.” The footage shows colleagues cheering as Sheila walks into the surprise party.
“She told us that nobody has ever thrown me a party before & she was so excited to tell her friends’,” Heisdorf added, encouraging viewers to help raise money for a surprise honeymoon. “Lets make this the best surprise of her life.”
The post caught the attention of numerous brands, including Hilton, which offered Sheila and her new husband, Terry, a complimentary honeymoon stay. The hotel company said the gesture was intended to “extend the light and warmth of hospitality Sheila has shown throughout her career.”
While their honeymoon plans are still in the works, Hilton decided to keep the celebration going by sending Sheila and the two friends who made her go viral — Heisdorf and Cayla Lightbody — to New York City for a magical holiday trip this month.
It was Sheila’s first time on a plane — good practice ahead of her honeymoon — and images shared by Heisdorf captured her excitement boarding her flight.
Hilton hosted the trio for four nights at Conrad New York Downtown, covering their hotel and accommodations. While in the Big Apple, they took in the holiday sights, went on a classic carriage ride, and dined at ATRIO Wine Bar and Restaurant. Sheila also got to enjoy her first margarita in “about 30 years,” she revealed in a TikTok video shared by Heisdorf.
“I can’t believe I’m having the time of my life,” Sheila said in one TikTok video. “I can’t believe all this is happening, it’s like a dream. It’s like I’m living in a dream.” Moved to tears, Sheila thanked Hilton, saying, “you gave me hope.”
“I didn’t know traveling could be this wonderful,” Sheila said. “And I will be back.”
