There’s a new grandmother in Bachelor Nation! Emily Maynard Johnson, the lead of The Bachelorette season 8, became a grandma at the age of 39 when her daughter Ricki Hendrick, 20, gave birth to a baby girl named Romi.
Ricki announced the happy news in an Instagram post on January 23, with the simple caption “best day ever.” The post includes two black and white photos, one of a swaddled baby Romi next to her mom, and another of Emily and her husband Tyler Johnson holding the newborn. The baby’s name was revealed when Ricki updated her Instagram bio to read, “romis mom.”

Ricki is the daughter of Emily and her late fiancé, NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick, who died in a plane crash in 2004, days before Emily discovered she was pregnant. Emily went on to compete on The Bachelor in 2011, where she became engaged to Brad Womack. After they called it quits, she starred on The Bachelorette, where she became engaged to Jef Holm, though they too called it quits shortly after.

Emily married Tyler in 2014, and they share five children, Jennings, 9, Gibson, 8, Gatlin, 7, Magnolia, 4, and Jones, 3.
Ricki has not publicly revealed the identity of Romi’s father. However, an Instagram post shared by Emily includes photos of Ricki posing with Carter Dyer in the hospital.
“We became grandparents today!! The feeling is inexpressible. This is love. 1 John 4:7-11,” Emily captioned the post.
