Demi Moore Admits She “Just Knew” She’d Lose Oscar to Mikey Madison
It was supposed to be Demi Moore’s night. After giving a moving speech while receiving a Golden Globe in January, the Substance star seemed like a sure thing for the best actress trophy at the Academy Awards March 2.
But when past winner Emma Stone opened the envelope on the stage of L.A.’s Dolby Theatre, she announced Anora star Mikey Madison as the winner.
Demi was gracious, congratulating the 26-year-old. But in a new interview, the 62-year-old admits she was upset not to have her work acknowledged.
“The physical, human part that has ego, of course, has disappointment,” she told Time. “It certainly would have been wonderful to have won.”
Still, the Brat Packer revealed that she wasn’t surprised when her name wasn’t called. During a commercial break, Demi told the mag, she even whispered to her manager, Jason Weinberg, “I think it’s going to be Mikey.”
Looking back, she said, “I don’t know why I knew. I just did!”
