As the premiere of the fifth and final season of Netflix’s hit Stranger Things fast approaches, star David Harbour has been making headlines — for all the wrong reasons.
On Oct. 24, the 50-year-old’s ex-wife Lily Allen, dropped a new album, West End Girl, with lyrical references to the messy end of a relationship, including allegations of cheating and lying within an open marriage and the betrayal she felt.

While Lily, 40, insisted she took “artistic license” while writing the songs, she told The Times, “There are definitely things I experienced within my relationship that have ended up on this album.”
Fans quickly seemed to turn on the Stranger Things onetime favorite, dragging him as a cheater who mistreated his ex. All of which has been hard on the star. “He knew Lily was likely to get catty on the album,” an insider tells Star. “But it really bugs him that he’s being depicted as a serial love rat and dishonest character.”

It didn’t help when the Daily Mail reported that the actor, who plays the gruff but heroic cop Jim Hopper on the sci-fi series, was subject to an investigation spurred by costar Millie Bobby Brown. According to the outlet, the 21-year-old “filed a harassment and bullying claim” before the last season, with “pages and pages of accusations.” (The outlet’s source clarifies that the misconduct was not of a sexual nature.)
It’s all cast a cloud over David, who’s at the height of his career. “David is incredibly ambitious,” says the insider. “This has caused a horrendous stink at the worst possible time.”
