Catherine O’Hara’s brother, Michael P. O’Hara, shared some bittersweet stories about the final days of the late comedian’s life, including getting to say goodbye to her, as he believes, in a dream.
The Schitt’s Creek actress died on January 28 at age 71. Speaking on the season 3 premiere of his podcast Dreams of Our Loved Ones, the Toronto-based writer and producer explained that his sister wasn’t speaking much toward the end of her life.
“She didn’t really want to talk on the phone. And she didn’t live close by, she’s in Los Angeles,” he explained, per Entertainment Weekly.
However, that doesn’t mean he wasn’t able to say goodbye to her in his own way. Michael believes his sister visited him in a dream a few days before her death.

“I always cherish the times I can meet with a loved one in the dream state,” Michael said. “And I was hugging her, which was really beautiful. And I guess it was sort of a goodbye.”
Since her death, he says he’s had another dream about his sister in which she was in a brand new house that was being renovated just for her.
“She was really busy choosing furniture and couches,” he told listeners. “And she said, ‘You can sleep here anytime, Michael. You can come over and stay anytime.'”
“And it reminded me of when she was in Second City Television and I was apprenticing at the Windsor Arms Hotel,” he continued. “I would go over and sleep over at her place some nights because she had an extra bedroom. Yeah, pretty cool. But yeah, it was beautiful. She was just so happy and very busy in the other world that she’s now in, but yeah, it’s beautiful.”
