Britney Spears Breaks Silence After DUI Arrest, ‘Spiritual Journey’ in Rehab: ‘Blessing in Disguise’

Britney Spears has broken her silence after her recent arrest and rehab treatment.

In a Saturday, May 9 Instagram post, the pop star, 44, shared a photo of herself handling a snake while out and about with sons Sean Preston, 20, and 19-year-old Jayden, whom she shares with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.

“Went to the pet store with my kids and look at what a beautiful baby snake this is,” wrote Spears, holding an albino Burmese python similar to the one she famously danced with during her “I’m a Slave 4 U” performance at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards. (She called the moment “terrifying” in her in her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, via People.)

“Snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck…” the “Toxic” singer added in her Instagram post. “I’m so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey… all a blessing in disguise.”

“I still have to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself,” she continued. “It’s a never ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up and say wow God I think that was you and smile on!”

As Star previously reported, the Crossroads star was arrested on March 4 for driving under the influence in Ventura, California. Several weeks later, Spears voluntarily checked into a rehab facility in Maine on April 12, and stayed for roughly three weeks.

On May 4, she pleaded guilty to reckless driving, though she didn’t appear in person at Ventura County courthouse, per Page Six.

Spears was sentenced to one year of informal probation and is required to complete 30 hours of alcohol school, according to the publication.

Spears’ lawyer Michael Goldstein said in court that she had “taken significant steps to implement positive change” in her life.
