Billy Bob Thornton: How My Wife Saved Me

Billy Bob Thornton has been married a whopping six times — but his 10-year union (which followed 12 years of dating) with wife Connie Angland has stuck for a reason.

“She kind of drug me out of the gutter,” the 69-year-old recently admitted. When the pair met on the set of 2003’s Bad Santa, explains a source, “Billy Bob had been on a bender, and she came along and straightened him out.”

The actor allowed that he’s “freaked out” by the number of times he’s been down the aisle, but shared that there’s no hard feelings with his famous ex Angelina Jolie.

“We’re good friends, we’ve been friends for years and years and years,” he said.

They split in 2002, after Angelina adopted son Maddox from Cambodia. “He wasn’t really ready to be a dad again,” says the source (he had three kids with two previous wives). But once he and Connie welcomed daughter Bella, 10, “he found stability in his life,” adds the source. “He’s calmer and centered and much more giving now. Connie saved him.”
