Amy Duggar is standing her ground.

On Thursday, January 8, the 19 Kids and Counting alum, 39 — whose uncle is Jim Bob Duggar and aunt is Michelle Duggar — posted a screenshot of a heated text exchange between herself and a family member over the contents in her book Holy Disruptor.

“I was told by a family member that I am ‘troublesome’ for telling the truth in my book,” she penned in part in the post’s caption. “That I’m mistaken. That I remembered it wrong. That bringing it up causes harm.”

In the screenshot, the unnamed family member texted, “I have tons of pictures of you and him having fun… I pray you can think on [sic] good things and good times.”

In response, the former reality TV personality — who did not share the context behind the text messages — wrote back, “Oh I remember the good times. Clearly. But the bad does not take away from the fact of the wrong.”

“I can’t have someone in my life who refuses to take accountability. Who has gaslighted me and has made me fear for my life,” she continued. “I’m breaking that cycle in my own life so my son does not have to grow up in fear.”

The family member sent a second text, which read, “This is all wrong but I think in time you will see it should not be this way. So u are never connected back with us ??”

On top of the screenshot, Amy added, “This family member clearly didn’t read my book,” and “This is an example of classic gaslighting.”

In her caption, Amy admitted she went “through this conversation piece by piece,” explaining that the first text depicts “selective memory and manipulation,” as “Photos of happy moments do not cancel out abuse, fear, or harm‼️.”

As far as the second text, Amy wrote, “It’s almost as if this person is trying to confuse my thoughts and my boundary lines.”

“See how the responsibility shifted onto me? Like my boundary is being reframed as punishment?” she further noted in the caption.

Holy Disruptor: Shattering the Shiny Facade by Getting Louder with the Truth hit shelves in October. According to a synopsis of the book, Amy gave “her unfiltered testimony to finally break free from the toxic cycles that swirled around her and to confront the trauma she endured off-camera” within the Duggar family.

Us Weekly reported that Amy explored her relationships with her grandfather — who she described as a “predator” — and her convicted sex offender cousin Josh Duggar in her book.
