George Clooney Defends Future In-Laws Once Again

For months, George Clooney failed to comment on his relationship and engagement to Amal Alamuddin. But now that his future in-laws have been called into question by the Daily Mail, the actor isn’t keeping quiet any longer!

It all started when the British newspaper published a story saying that Amal’s mother, Baria, did not approve of the couple’s relationship based on religious reasons. Earlier this week, George slammed the publication, and an apology was issued…but apparently the 53-year-old still doesn’t feel his point has been made.

“There is one constant when a person or company is caught doing something wrong,” he wrote in a new op-ed for USA Today. “The coverup is always worse. In this case, the Daily Mail has printed an apology for insinuating religious tensions where there are none. In the apology, managing editor Charles Garside claims that the article was “not a fabrication,” but “based the story on conversations with senior members of the Lebanese community.” The problem is that none of that is true.”

He added that “the Mail knew the story in question was false and printed it anyway.”

In the end, George noted that he thanks the paper for its apology, but he’ll never accept it, “because in doing so they’ve exposed themselves as the worst kind of tabloid. One that makes up facts to the detriment of its readers and to all the publications that blindly reprint them.”
