For the past two weeks, Shia LaBeouf has continuously made a message clear on Twitter: “I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE.” His declaration comes after an announcement that he’s “retiring from all public life” following “recent attacks against my artistic integrity.”
However, disappearing from the spotlight isn’t so easy when you’re starring in movies. The actor has reportedly signed on to star in a new film, Rock the Kabash, which begins shooting in June. His costars include big names like Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, Kate Hudson and more.
The movies tells the story of a has-been manager who takes his last client to Afghanistan. There, he discovers a talented young girl who he winds up coaching through her country’s version of American Idol. No word yet on what sort of character Shia will portray.
Last year, the 27-year-old experienced major media scrutiny for plagiarizing a short film. Following the incident, he was criticized for continuing to plagiarize in “insincere” apologies, as well as for several confusing messages on Twitter. Although he insists on avoiding fame these days, he’ll definitely be getting some recognition later this year, when his movie, Fury, costarring Brad Pitt, hits theaters.
