Looks like there’s no hard feelings here! While accepting the Emmy Award for Best Actor in a TV-Movie or Miniseries, Michael Douglas made a bit of a surprise thank you in his speech — to Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Star was first to report on the married couple’s separation, and although divorce papers haven’t been filed yet, their reps confirmed that they’re currently taking a break. However, according to Michael’s speech, you’d never know anything was wrong. “I want to thank my wife, Catherine, for her support,” he mentioned.
The actor won the award for his performance in Behind the Candelabra. He made a point to give a huge thank you to co-star and fellow nominee, Matt Damon, as well. “You were magnificent,” Michael told Matt. “And the only reason I’m standing here is because of you, so you really deserve half of this. So, you want the bottom or top?” (The joke is in reference to the gay sex scenes both actors had to film for the movie).
This is the 68-year-old’s first Emmy Award. Catherine was not in attendance for the event.
