The cast of Glee is still mourning the loss of Cory Monteith, but it was back to business as usual on Aug. 5, as production on Season 5 officially began. Despite being in rehearsals and fittings last week, Cory’s on-and-off-screen girlfriend Lea Michele really got to work on Monday, when she recorded a song for an upcoming episode.
“Couldn’t have picked a more beautiful & perfect song to start the year with..” she tweeted. The actress did not give away what song it was, or which episode it would appear in. However, Fox Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly revealed recently that the third episode of this upcoming season will be a tribute to Cory, while addressing his character’s death, so it would certainly be fitting for Lea to record an emotional song for that.
After Cory’s unexpected death on July 13, Glee creator Ryan Murphy consulted Lea about how she wanted to proceed with the show. The 27-year-old actress gave her approval to beginning production on Season 5 just one week after originally planned, acknowledging that it was important for the cast and crew to be back together sooner rather than later.
Glee comes back on Sept. 26 with the first of two Beatles-themed episodes.
