Yankees Announce Rafael Flores And Cam Schlittler As 2024 Kevin Lawn Award Winners

The New York Yankees on Tuesday announced catcher Rafael Flores and right-handed pitcher Cam Schlittler as the recipients of the 2024 Kevin Lawn Awards, recognizing them as the organization’s Minor League “Position Player of the Year” and “Pitcher of the Year,” respectively.

Both players will be honored in an on-field ceremony before the Yankees’ Tuesday afternoon matchup against the Boston Red Sox at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

The annual awards commemorate Kevin OBrien Lawn, the late son of longtime Yankees Vice President and Chief of Operations Jack Lawn, who died in 1999.

Flores, 24, excelled in the Yankees farm system in 2024, splitting time between High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset. Across 122 games in 2024, he posted a .279 batting average with 21 home runs, 31 doubles, and 68 RBIs. His offensive production placed him among the top performers in the Yankees minor league system, ranking second in home runs and doubles, and third in hits. Baseball America named Flores the Yankees’ 2024 Minor League Player of the Year and ranked him as the No. 10 prospect in the organization. Signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2022, the Anaheim native has steadily risen through the system.

Schlittler, also 24, had an impressive 2024 campaign across three minor league levels — High-A Hudson Valley, Double-A Somerset, and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He finished the season with an 8-8 record and a 3.36 ERA in 120.2 innings, striking out 154 batters while holding opponents to a .218 batting average. His performance earned him South Atlantic League Postseason All-Star honors, as well as the leagues “Pitcher of the Year” award. A Massachusetts native, Schlittler was selected by the Yankees in the seventh round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of Northeastern University.

Both players will receive a trophy from Browns Trophies and an engraved designer watch from Oris as part of the recognition.
