Jessica Simpson’s iconic Chicken of the Sea quote lives on — ”Is this chicken, what I have, or is this fish?” — but now, the singer is more concerned about a different protein: snake sperm.

The “I Wanna Love You Forever” singer has embarked on her major music comeback following her enormous success (read: billion-dollar business) in the fashion industry.

After releasing her new EP, Nashville Canyon: Pt. 1, in late March, Simpson, 44, shared an eye-opening part of her vocal prep with her team — which involves drinking the special snake concoction.

On Sunday, April 6, Simpson was stopped by a TMZ videographer who asked her about the new drink.

“Now that you know what’s in it,” he asked, “are you going to keep drinking it?”

She burst out laughing.

“Oh, oh, of course! Yeah!” she said. “Are you kidding me?”

“I mean, it just really clears my throat,” she told the papparazzo, before quipping: “I’m just a really great singer when I have snake sperm.”

Simpson continued to entertain the questions for several minutes, revealing the beverage has a “dark honey” quality to it and joking that she could make her own.

The paparazzi run-in comes just weeks after Simpson shared a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram, in which she reveals her “vocal coach told me to drink … this Chinese herb thing,” which she’s seen drinking in the clip. Describing it as a “honey,” the singer noted that a Google search revealed that snake sperm was one of the ingredients.

After years of ups and downs in the spotlight — including her 2005 split from Lachey and her 2024 split from second husband Eric Johnson, with whom she shares three kids — Simpson is ready to use her voice on stage … and in her music.

“I’ve always journaled,” Simpson told Billboard in an interview published on April 4. “If I don’t journal for a few months, I know there’s something I’m not wanting to confront, emotionally. So, I went to Nashville and was like, ‘Let the confrontation begin.’”
