Warner Music Group (WMG) and Grammy-nominated artist Josh Groban were honored at the Harmony Program’s annual gala in New York City Wednesday night, which raised nearly $800,000 to support music education in under-served communities.

The event, held at The Altman Building and Hosted by CBS Mornings Plus Adriana Diaz, highlighted the nonprofit organization’s mission to bring music into the lives of young people across the city. The Harmony Program provides free instruments and music instruction to children, aiming to foster self-confidence and academic success. WMG, a longtime supporter, was recognized for its financial support and career mentorship for students.

“The Harmony Programs work isnt just about expanding access to music education, it’s about harnessing the power of music to encourage collaboration and cultivate community,” said Harmony Program Board Member and WMG President of Global Catalog Kevin Gore, who accepted the honor on behalf of WMG.

“Its more important than ever for all of us to ensure that artistic expression continues to flourish freely and that organizations like the Harmony Program continue to thrive, so that they can foster the next generation of leaders, dreamers, and music makers,” Gore said. “Its an honor to be recognized by such an essential and impactful organization in our community.”

Harmony Program Founder and Executive Director Anne Fitzgibbon said WMG has been a supporter since 2015.

“Beyond financial support, they have provided our students with career mentorship, industry internships, and unforgettable, collaborative performances with world-class artists like Joyce DiDonato, Chris Thile, and Josh Groban,” Fitzgibbon said. “They exemplify the power of corporate philanthropy to inspire young people, and by extension, their broader communities.”

Groban, a dedicated advocate for arts education, performed at the event alongside Harmony Program students.

“The work of the Harmony Program is vitally important because its changing the mindset of these young people,” Groban said. “Arts education, in an ever-divided and cynical world, is what tells us about the beauty of our similarities, but more importantly about the beauty of our differences. This honor is so special and it means the world to me.”

Groban’s own Find Your Light Foundation also supports arts education initiatives, furthering his commitment to enriching young lives through cultural awareness.
