“Big Girls Don’t Cry” singer Fergie is likely shedding tears right now after getting slammed for her butchered rendition of the National Anthem at Sunday’s NBA All-Star’s game in L.A.!
Although die-hard fans are speculating that the disastrous performance was a hoax, a close friend of the 42-year-old says,
“Fergie has gone off the rails and everyone is really, really worried about her, including Josh [Duhamel]!”
“She has been acting really erratic lately and she’s been sending friends texts messages in the middle of the night,” the insider revealed. “It seems she may be back to her partying ways.”
As Black Eyed Peas fans know, Fergie has been open about her history with crystal meth addiction and has been incredibly outspoken about her struggles to stay sober.
After divorcing longtime hunky hubby Duhamel, 45 – who is baby-daddy to the couple’s four-year-old son Axl Jack – Fergie’s fought to regain her sex-symbol status while on a worldwide tour to promote her second solo album, Double Dutchess.
However, the album’s lackluster reviews may have taken its toll on Fergie, according to the friend.
“She was devastated by the poor reception to her latest album because it was supposed to be her big break back into the spotlight,” the insider says.
“The response just wasn’t what Fergie or her team was hoping for, at all.”
Fergie said in a statement of her controversial performance, “I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA.”
“ I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”
