Victoria Beckham Says She and David ‘Tried to Be the Best Parents’ Amid Rift With Son Brooklyn
Victoria Beckham defends her parenting amid feud with son Brooklyn, saying she and David always tried to protect and love their children despite life in the public eye.
Why can’t they all just get along?! The war of words between Victoria Beckham and her estranged son Brooklyn continues. In a new Wall Street Journal interview, the designer, 52, defended herself against the 27-year-old’s scathing January statement posted on Instagram Stories in which he accused her and husband David Beckham of using their kids to burnish their image and valuing “public promotion and endorsements above all else.”

Saying that she and the soccer legend, 50, “always tried to be the best parents that we could be” to Brooklyn and his siblings, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and 14-year-old Harper, the former Spice Girl insisted that they strove to shield the kids from fame. “We’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now,” she continued. “And all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children.”

That said, she admitted she and David have some regrets about bringing their family into the spotlight. “I wouldn’t say it comes with guilt,” she clarified, adding that being surrounded by paparazzi took her parents time to get used to. “We’ve really taken our families on this ride with us.”
