Top-Earning TV Star Considering Mentoring Meghan Markle: ‘Untapped Potential’
Sofía Vergara thinks Meghan Markle could use a little career coaching — and now a source says the Modern Family alum is eager to take the Duchess of Sussex under her wing.
“She’s absolutely fascinated by the whole Meghan situation,” the source tells Star. “Sofía sees a golden opportunity that has thus far been squandered.”
As Star previously reported, the former Suits actress has struggled to find her footing in the work world, with her As Ever brand having difficulty moving product and her With Love, Meghan series failing to score a third season.
Though journalist Tina Brown‘s Fresh Hell Substack reported Markle, 45, lined up a new acting job prior to moving back to England this August, there’s still been no confirmation of “the show” she supposedly booked.
But according to our source, Vergara, 54, continues to see “untapped potential” after years of being underestimated in Hollywood herself.
“Sofía comes at this with a deep history in talent management through the company she founded more than 30 years ago, Latin World Entertainment,” notes the source. “Even though the company has long specialized in Hispanic talent, Sofía would love to advise Meghan about returning to acting, endorsement deals and publicity in general.”
In 2020, Forbes named the America’s Got Talent judge the world’s highest paid actress — raking in a whopping $43 million over the course of 12 months — thanks to her television gigs as well as various spokesperson and licensing deals.
Celebrity Net Worth estimates Vergara’s fortune currently stands at a cool $180 million.
“With some smart moves, Sofía managed to prove her early doubters wrong,” says Star‘s source. “She would love the chance to do the same thing with Meghan.”
Back in 2017, Markle hinted she was a fan of the Colombia-born beauty, revealing to Allure that the two women even shared a makeup artist.
“Sofía and Meghan have a good number of mutual friends,” shares our source. “At the moment, the ball is in Meghan’s court to actually sit down with Sofía.”
