Shia LaBeouf revisited his past behavior as he attended the premiere of a documentary about his former theater company.

The 38-year-old Transformers star appeared at the premiere of Slauson Rec on Sunday, May 18, at Palais des Festivals as part of the Cannes Film Festival. He sported a bushy mustache with less of a beard than he usually opts for and slicked back salt-and-pepper hair. He wore a white t-shirt, a dark jacket, matching pants and sunglasses.

The doc focuses on the now-defunct experimental theater collective the former Disney star established out of the Slauson Recreation Center in Los Angeles in 2018. The film was directed by LaBeouf’s former student, Leo Lewis O’Neil, who recorded hours of footage with his permission.

Variety reported that at the beginning of the film, the Holes star speaks in the present day, acknowledging his wrongdoing.

“I’ve done a lot of coming to terms with the failure that was my life, and the plastic foundation I had,” he stated per the outlet. “I left a lot of people in the wake of my personality defects.”

According to Variety, the film showcases a heated argument between the Disturbia actor and a student named Zeke.

“I don’t give a f**k what you say to me… You’ve got it better than I ever had it. What the f**k is the attitude problem? I’m giving you everything I have, so stop f**king with me,” LaBeouf reportedly said before shoving Zeke against a wall in the doc.

LaBeouf and O’Neil sat down for a joint interview with The Hollywood Reporter published on Saturday, May 18, before the Even Stevens alum got to watch the final product.

“I don’t think I’m the first in my line of work or any creative craft to lose the plot a bit. Leo documented it in a loving way, but full-blown — I turned into an animal,” he admitted.

The Emmy Award winner also made it clear he is not coming up with excuses for his actions.

“It was an egalitarian dream that failed for a bunch of reasons. There’s unacceptable s*** in there. There’s beautiful shit in there,” he remarked. “What this won’t be is a lack of accountability. This won’t be me saying, ‘I did this because of that.’ None of that type of s**t.”
