Sarah Ferguson was reportedly miffed when Meghan Markle revealed her pregnancy news at her daughter Princess Eugenie’s wedding back in October 2018.
Meghan, 44, and her husband Prince Harry, 41, were expecting their son, Archie, at the time, and the Duchess of York, 66, was seemingly unhappy with the announcement.
In an apparent attempt to shove the baby news under the rug, Ferguson had posted a slew of photos from Eugenie’s nuptials to Jack Brooksbank at the time and was upset that her daughter’s big day was overshadowed.
The situation “did not go down particularly well” with the princess, 35, and Fergie, according to Finding Freedom authors Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie, per The Mirror.
The Duke of Sussex gave insight into the decision in his 2023 memoir Spare.
“Eugenie was getting married to Jack [Brooksbank] and we were deliriously happy for them and for ourselves, selfishly, since Jack was one of our favorite people,” he wrote.

The former military man added: “Meghan and I were supposed to head off on our first official foreign tour as a married couple, but we delayed the departure several days, so we could be at the wedding. Also, the various gatherings connected to the wedding would give us a chance to pull aside family members one by one and tell them our good news.”
Harry and Meghan told his father King Charles III about the announcement “at Windsor, just before a drinks reception for the bride and groom.”
“He was delighted to learn that he was going to be a grandfather for a fourth time,” Harry penned. “His wide smile warmed me.”
Archie was born in May 2019 and the Sussexes also welcomed daughter Lilibet in June 2021.
