Bruce Willis’ frontotemporal dementia diagnosis is not holding him back from having a relationship with his granddaughter.

On Wednesday, May 21, the 70-year-old legendary actor’s eldest daughter, Rumer Willis, shared insight into the sweet bond between her 2-year-old daughter Louetta and the Die Hard star.

“Lou and I go over all the time, and even with whatever challenges may occur, he loves her so much, and he gets so excited to see her,” the Dancing with the Stars champion told Access Hollywood. “I feel so grateful that Louetta knows him and has time.”

Rumer shares Louetta with ex-boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas.

The 90210 alum also discussed her potential Father’s Day plans: “I would love to just spend the day with my dad and maybe make him some corncakes,” she quipped. “That is his favorite recipe for us. So I just want to spend the day with him.”

In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, Rumer gave more insight into the heartwarming relationship between the Golden Globe winner and her toddler.

“It’s so nice to be able to spend time with him and Louetta, and she loves him,” she gushed. “I have one of these little skylight frames that has pictures of him and of all of our family, and Louetta’s now 2, so she’s getting to that point where she’s like, ‘Oh, it’s grandpa Bruce.'”

Rumer noted that the retired actor was doing “really good” overall.

The Pulp Fiction star was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023. According to the National Institute of Aging, “Frontotemporal disorders result from damage to neurons primarily in the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. As neurons die in these regions, the frontal and temporal lobes atrophy, or shrink.” There is no cure for the disease.

Besides Rumer, Bruce shares daughters Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 31, with ex-wife Demi Moore. He is also a dad to Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, whom he shares with wife Emma Heming Willis.

In December 2024, Moore, 62, opened up about the two-time Emmy winner’s dementia battle in an interview with CNN.

“Given the givens, he’s in a very stable place at the moment,” she said. “And, you know, I’ve shared this before, but I really mean this so sincerely: It’s so important for anybody who’s dealing with this to really meet them where they’re at. And from that place, there is such loving and joy.”
