Robin Wright Praises Derek Hough and Sister Julianne, Admits She Thought They Were Married

Robin Wright made a hilarious assumption about Derek Hough and his younger sister, Julianne Hough.

On Sunday, January 11, the Forrest Gump actress, 59, attended the 83rd Golden Globe Awards and was interviewed by Derek, 40 — who was there with Extra — on the red carpet.

“Wait, you’re the brother of Julianne,” Wright pointed out as she joined Derek. “I love her. ”

“I love her too!” Derek responded before Wright made a candid admission: “Can I tell you something? When I first saw her dance, I was like, ‘They’re married.'”

Derek — who tied the knot with wife Hayley Erbert in 2023 — wasn’t too surprised by Wright’s confusion, noting, “I’ve got that sometimes.”

The House of Cards alum further praised Derek and Julianne’s connection on the dance floor.

“You guys are amazing together,” she gushed. “I follow you guys on Instagram and watch you guys move.”

“I’m gonna keep watching you dance, you and your sis. Beautiful together,” the Girlfriend star added at the end of the interview. “Give her a hug for me.”

Derek and Julianne, 37, share three older sisters and have danced together since childhood. When Derek was 13, and Julianne was 10, they moved from Utah to London to train at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, living with family friends, Shirley and Corky Ballas, according to People.

The sibling duo joined the cast of Dancing with the Stars in 2007 as professional dancers. Derek later began working as a judge on the hit dancing competition series in 2020, and Julianne became a host in 2023, but the pair still hit the ballroom floor together from time to time.
