After it was reported that some members of the royal family helped Andrew Mountbatten Windsor settle with Virginia Giuffre in her sexual assault lawsuit against him, sources have made it clear Prince William was not one of them.

“William did not give a penny,” a friend told journalist Rob Shuter for a Friday, February 13, post on his Naughty But Nice Substack. “Not directly, not indirectly, not quietly. Nothing.”

Earlier this week, The Sun reported that the former Prince Andrew, 65, was given £12 million — roughly equivalent to $16 million — by his parents and brother King Charles III to pay off Giuffre, who died in April 2025 at age 41.

The publication reported that the late Queen Elizabeth II contributed £7 million while £3 million came from Prince Philip’s estate after his death and Charles, 77, put in £1.5 million. A Sun source also claimed, “Andrew’s not paid back a penny.”

The British daily national newspaper The Times reported, however, that Charles did not loan Andrew any money, according to a source close to the king.

Regardless, the Prince of Wales, 43 — who has reportedly had a strained and distant relationship with his uncle — was apparently not involved in Andrew’s settlement.

A source told Shuter that William “believes accountability matters,” adding: “He was absolutely clear he would not fund any payoff, hush money, or settlement.”

The father of three, who is next in line for the throne, “wasn’t going to risk his credibility by touching this,” added a royal watcher.

As Star previously reported, the former Duke of York was stripped of his royal titles and duties late last year by his brother amid renewed interest in his connection to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Though Andrew has never been charged with any crime, more damning allegations against him have come to light following the release of Giuffre’s posthumous memoir and parts of the Epstein files.

Andrew has consistently maintained his innocence and denied any wrongdoing.

Buckingham Palace recently released a statement addressing the latest news that Andrew allegedly shared confidential information with Epstein related to his role as a trade envoy — and the family said they would cooperate with Thames Valley Police, who are investigating, if they are approached.
