Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Taking Steps to Ensure Stressful U.K. Move Doesn’t ‘Tear Them Apart’

Even the happiest of couples can feel the strain of a big move, so Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are putting in the work to ensure their eight-year marriage “survives” after relocating their home base from California to England, says a source.

“They’re very aware that this is going to be challenging — it’s an enormous upheaval,” the source tells Star. “But they’re being proactive and talking about what can be done to make sure the stress of this all doesn’t tear them apart.”

As Star previously reported, the Spare author, 41, and the As Ever founder, 45, escaped the U.K. in 2020 amid tensions with the royal family, however they recently moved back, enrolling children Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, in school for the fall.

Fellow Montecito, Calif., transplant Ellen DeGeneres even helped the Sussexes find a new home, Star has learned.

In the wake of their migration, “Harry and Meghan agreed that they need to schedule date nights so that they will have private time to reconnect,” the source notes. “They’re both going to be extremely busy, which means it really does need to go in the calendar or it simply won’t happen.”

Last week, Star revealed the Suits alum had already lined up an acting gig in her husband’s homeland.

“If Meghan goes on location at all for acting work, Harry and the kids will go with her — they want to avoid being apart for extended stretches,” the source adds. “No matter how hectic things get, protecting their marriage is key.”
