Inside Muhammad Ali's Heartbreaking Memorial Service

On June 9, a police escorted hearse arrived at Freedon Hall in Louisville, Kentucky, where a Jenezah funeral service was held in honor of late boxing legend Muhammad Ali.  

As part of the muslim ceremony, pallbearers brought in the 74-year-old legend's coffin, which was covered in a black and gold blanket embroidered with arabic scripture.  

Despite being a devout muslim, people of all faiths were invited to attend the memorial ceremony.  

As Star readers know, the former Olympian champ — who had been suffering from Parkinsons for over three decades — died at 9:10 MT on Jun 3, 2016 after her  to a Phoenix-area hospital due to "respiratory" issues. His family rushed to his side after medics informed that “his condition wasn’t going to improve."  

He died soon after due to septic shock from natural causes.  

The father of nine will be laid to rest on June 10.
