Divorce Shocker! Drew Barrymore & Will Kopelman Calling It Quits—Why Her 'Crazy' Side Destroyed Them

When the couple married in a romantic ceremony in Montecito, Calif., in June 2012, they had been dating for a little over a year (previously friends for four years) and Drew was pregnant with their first daughter, Olive.

“It was a whirlwind,” an insider tells Star. “They wanted to see it through because they were expecting.”

And things were so good for Drew, she shortly boasted after their vows: "Marriage is great and the kids are the best!”

But former wild child Drew, who was in rehab at 14, and emancipated from her parents a year later, has vacillated between the desire to settle down and the need for drama. “When things get too sedate, she goes crazy—and her unpredictable nature takes over,” the source says.

And this isn’t the first time love has gone wrong—Drew’s romantic past includes two blind-and-you-missed-them marriages. In 1994, after a broken engagement to actor/musician Jamie Walters, she wed Jeremy Thomas, owner of an L.A. bar, then left him after only 19 days. She next exchanged vows with comedian Tom Green—who called their five-month marriage a “crazy whirlwind of a time.”

Now, her current marriage is just as much in trouble. Sources spill to Star that Will and Drew haven’t stopped arguing for months. “They’ve been having trouble for a while now,” says an insider. “They tried living apart, but it didn’t help—and now they’ve decided to split.”

But the tipster says Will hasn’t seen this side of her before and is now doubting how much he really knew the actress to begin with. “Drew can be a loving caring person one minute and crying hysterically for no reason the next. Will never knows what to expect from her,” says the pal.

Plus, Drew can be particularly demanding in the bedroom. “If he’s ever too tired to perform, Drew will start a massive fight,” the insider says. “All this drama is getting to be too much for Will—and he’s putting his foot down."

With two daughters (Olive, 3, and Frankie, 1), an $8 million Hollywood Hills home, and $150 million stocked up in the bank, their battle is about to turn nasty since Drew has already dialed up her attorneys.

Still, the couple hasn’t officially called it quits yet—and Drew is still wearing her wedding ring. “Right now, everyone is rooting for them, but it looks like only a miracle will save this marriage,” a source in the couple's camp adds.
