'You'll Die in My Arms' — Inside Celine Dion's Possible Last Christmas With Dying Husband René Angélil

The 47-year-old singer spent the holiday attempting to create memories with her 73-year-old husband and their children, 14-year-old René Charles and 5-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson.

"All they can do is surround him with love and light until the very end," a friend of Celine revealed to Star.

"There is a team of people taking care of René [who is unable to speak, has difficulty hearing and has been fitted with a feeding tube], but at this point, there's little hope," the insider explained.

René was first diagnosed with cancer in 1998, and underwent thirty-eight rounds of radiation. He had a short stint of remission, but the cancer returned with a vengeance in 2014.

As Star previously reported, Celine has taken a break from her Caesar's Palace residency to care for her ailing husband, whose health has made a small improvement. But as more successes become unlikely, Celine is preparing to say goodbye to her husband.

"Celine can't imagine life without René," the insider said. "The very thought of losing him is more than she can bear, but deep down, Celine knows this very well could have been their last Christmas together."

"You look at your husband who's very sick and you say, 'I got you. It's going to be fine,'" the "My Heart Will Go On" singer has said. "'You're scared? I understand. talk to me about it.' And René says, 'I want to die in your arms.' Okay. You'll die in my arms."
