Bella Thorne opened up about her difficult relationship with her mom, Tamara, in a new interview. The actress told Keke Plamer that she wished her mom had raised her differently. Instead, she grew up wanting, “acceptance… appreciation and love.”

“I wanted acceptance. I wanted appreciation and love for who I was, the way I looked, to everything about myself that I didn’t ever feel like I got,” the Midnight Sun actress said about her life growing up.

“I wanted an education, I wanted to feel like I could speak, I wanted a lot of things. But I never spoke up so you can only blame people around you so much before obviously you start blaming yourself,” she admitted.

“We're so much closer now. On a realistic level, me and my mom were best friends growing up so now I think this is the closest we've ever been in life to understanding one another. For both of us being honest with our opinions,” she explained about how their relationship changed.

Tamara, 61, told People, “I love my family and unconditionally love Bella very much. My family always comes first, and they are my number one priority.” Bella has three siblings: sisters Dani, 26, and Kaili, 27, and brother Remy, 23.
