Millie Bobby Brown says she would “love” to potentially play Britney Spears, but is firm that the Princess of Pop should have a say over how her story is told.

The “Stranger Things” star, 21, commented on rumors about her possibly playing the “Toxic” singer while speaking with Access Hollywood at the premiere of her new movie “The Electric State” in Los Angeles on Monday.

“I mean, she is an absolute icon,” said Brown, who recently went blonde herself. “I would love nothing more than to be a part of her story.”

“But,” Brown added, “thats her story, and I am in full support of her bringing her story to life how she wants to.”

During an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” back in 2022, Brown revealed she would want to play Spears, 43, because she feels kinship with child performers.

“I want to play a real person and I think for me, Britney. [It] would be Britney Spears. I think her story, first of all, resonates with me,” Brown told Barrymore.

“Just growing up in the public eye watching her videos, watching interviews of how when she was younger. I mean, same thing with you,” Brown said. “I see the scramble for words [in her interviews] and I don’t know her, but when I look at pictures of her, I feel like I could tell her story in the right way and hers only.”

But Spears may have caught wind of that segment, taking to social media the next day to shoot down the idea, though she didn’t mention Brown by name.

“I hear about people wanting to do movies about my life … dude I’m not dead!!!” Spears posted on Instagram at the time.

After the release of her memoir, “The Woman in Me,” Universal Pictures acquired the film rights, and in August 2024 announced a biopic is in the works.

That project, produced by Marc Platt and directed by Jon M. Chu, appears to have Spears’ stamp of approval, however.

“Excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt,” she wrote on X at the time. “Hes always made my favorite movies … stay tuned.”
