Only lovers in the building! Despite Martin Short insisting that he and his Only Murders in the Building costar Meryl Streep are “just very close friends,” a source reveals that the Hollywood heavyweights are still quietly dating.

“Their romance was the worst-kept secret on set,” notes the source. “The timing is just not right for them to shout their love from the rooftops.” Meryl, who’s long separated from spouse Don Gummer, and Martin, a widower since the 2010 death of wife Nancy Dolman, took in a Broadway show in March and held hands at a red-carpet event in August.

“They’re like a couple of teenagers,” says the source, who says the multi-Oscar winner, 75, and comedy legend, 74, plan to spend the holidays together — with the blessing of their collective seven grown kids. “They’re thrilled to see Meryl and Martin so happy.”
